The game featured up to 50 Wrestling Superstars who were active at the time of the release in 2003, but the real game-changer twist was the first-time inclusion of Wrestling Legends like Superfly and Rowdy. The game is also known as ‘Exciting Pro-Wrestling 5’ in Japan where it was released in 2004. All of the games in this series, like WWE: Smackdown! Here Comes the Pain, is based on the famous television show ‘Smackdown!’ which aired on the World Wrestling Entertainment Channel.
This game served as a sequel to WWE: Smackdown! Shut Your Mouth which is one of the games of the WWE: Smackdown! Series. WWE: Smackdown! Here Comes the Pain is developed by the company Yuke’s and it was published by THQ specifically for PlayStation2 at the beginning of October 2003.
